After an enormous storm, shipwrecked survivors found themselves on an island (some jokingly naming it “Continent 8”), uncharted and unknown to the rest of the world.  Holding no hope of rescue, they struck a truce and worked together for the common good, setting up a market system based on currency known simply as “coin,” joining forces to work on technological advancements, and equipping a militia to fend off the highly aggressive “indigenous” beings living on the island.

Gradually, dissent grew among the survivors and three groups went their separate ways, forming individual settlements on three corners of the island.  Before the split, it was decided that the first group to complete four monumental achievements would ultimately rule the island, with the other groups capitulating.

The year is 1925...

As the leader of your "empire," you must choose a route to achieving victory.  Will you focus on economics?  Grow your empire through expansion?  Bludgeon your enemies militarily?  Expand your technologies to improve production or arms?  The choice is yours.

  • Empire-building - populate and construct new cities, suburbs, and territories
  • Economic system - guide your people through the highs and lows of the commodity market as you attempt to keep your empire in the "black"
  • Technology advancements - educate scientists and use their raw discoveries in the areas of biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering to increase productivity and manufacture advanced weaponry
  • Harvest - food, metals, oil, and manufactured goods are all needed in order to expand, build, and protect your empire
  • Culture - gain culture to build Wonders and make advancements
  • Modular map - 24 tiles include plains, mountain, desert, jungle, forest, capital city, and the mysterious "Hive" hexes...hundreds of permutations, all with a quick setup
  • Seasons - some tiles provide different harvests during fall and winter, others are impassable during summer.  Plan your moves carefully so your armies don't fry
  • Prospecting - the productivity of different tiles is influenced by their terrain type
  • Empire cards - give an advantage during the game which you can build your empire around
  • Action cards - include permanent and temporary benefits, opportunities to build Wonders, the activation of dangerous swarms, tribes, and creatures, and natural and man-made phenomena such as earthquakes and stock market crashes
  • Player mats - track resources, tech breakthroughs, and store armies
  • Empire mat - track commodities market, technological capabilities, production and military advancements
  • Miniatures - each empire receives 3D-printed tank, plane, artillery pieces, and markers representing scientists, infantry, technological improvements, cities, and monuments in their respective color
  • Productivity markers - easy-to-handle colored discs represent farms, factories, mines, oil refineries, and cultural centers
  • Indigenous markers - swarms of bats and geckos, monsters, huge beasts, and unfriendly tribes appear, move around the board, and create never-ending chaos
  • Dice - two d6, one d8.  The two d6 are customized to help with scientist recruitment, obtaining culture, technological discoveries, and prospecting
  • Choose either a basic or a tactical combat system to resolve conflicts
  • Simple, quick "robo-player" cards with 6 different ideologies means you can play solitaire or against up to 2 other human players
